March 6th, 7th and 8th Winter Wonderland/Eagle Cruises CANCELED!
Well this has been the worst winter EVER as far as ice! We are itching to get out there but Mother Nature is not cooperating. We are hoping for a lower CT River Thaw! Please consider reservations for the weekend of the 3/20-3/22 OR during late March through April, we are offering Eagle/Osprey Cruises to celebrate the return of the Ospreys. We will also still see our resident Bald Eagles, nesting we hope, and with all this ice, any transient eagles should stick around for a while! Last weekend we checked most nests and at that point none of the pairs were incubating, but all were in the area and the Nott Island and Goodspeed Couples were at their nests working and sprucing things up.
Please look into our very popular Osprey/Eagle Cruises, on the calendar and booking now.
The weather will be much kinder then and we'll still see most of our winter visitors and eagles.
We are so looking forward to starting Winter Wonderland/Eagle Cruises with Connecticut Audubon!!!
There is very easy on-line booking. Use the "Reservations" button below to save a spot on these very popular cruises.
THANK YOU to all who came out and enjoyed the river and supported us. It was a great year! View 2014 review video
The icy River makes the front page of the Courant:
It has happened!
Our Swing Bridge Osprey family's REAL nesting platform is completed. State Representative Melissa Ziobron worked with the CT DOT to help with the installation. PLEASE show your support with a small ($5 or more) donation to this project, let the state know that we care about the river and it's wildlife!
The platform is a community funded project and $$$$ are still needed to cover the cost. THANKS!
